Arsenal’s second-half of the summer transfer window will likely orientate around departures, with the Gunners set to offload fringe players- and they’ll also be battling to keep hold of some big names.
Starring trio Alexis Sanchez, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Mesut Ozil have all had transfer speculation float above their heads as they’ve all entered the final 12 months of their contracts, with the Gunners facing a battle to ensure they don’t lose their services.
Fortunately, World Cup winner Mesut Ozil has revealed he’s not planning on going anywhere and stated he’s poised to negotiate a new contract with Arsenal following the club’s pre-season tour, where he discussed his future.
Quoted by Arsenal’s official website, Ozil said:
“It is definitely my preference to stay. It is such a great club and I have always said that I feel very good at Arsenal. Once everyone is back in London we will sit down and discuss about the future.”
“For now the most important thing is our pre-season and getting through the tour, training and getting fitness. When I’m back in London, we will sit down and discuss.”
Arsenal will hope for a similarly positive outcome when it comes to Oxlade-Chamberlain and Alexis Sanchez, though the Gunners are insisting they won’t sell to a Premier League rival.
