Arsenal star in line for international call up

Matteo Guendouzi is in contention for his first call-up to the France senior squad.

The youngster has impressed this season having been virtually an unknown quantity before his £8m switch from Lorient.

Guendouzi started the Gunners’ first five Premier League matches this term and was voted the club’s player of the month in August.

He recently lost his place in the XI to Lucas Torreira with the £26million Uruguay international coming in to partner Granit Xhaka in the middle of the park.

But Guendouzi has a bright future with Arsenal. And it looks as if his international career is just about to get started.

World Cup winners France face Iceland and Germany later this month, and Didier Deschamps is reportedly considering Guendouzi for a senior call-up.

The midfielder does have a Moroccan father and the African nation have already made attempts to get him on board. Appearing for France in competitive competition would put to bed any dispute over his international future.
