It was announced today that Arsenal youngster Wellington Silva has joined Bolton on a season long loan deal. The Brazilian starlet was finally cleared to play in England this summer after receiving a Spanish passport (and thus permission to work in the UK), and it is understood that Wenger is keen to send the player on loan to adapt to English football.

Many clubs are said to be interested, and it was once believed Wellington would go to a Premier League side, but ESPN today reported that the player has agreed to join Championship side Bolton on loan after agreeing terms on a contract extension at Arsenal.

Silva joined Arsenal in 2011 from Fluminese, but work permit issues have prevented him from making a single appearance for the club. He spent the last five seasons on loan, all in Spain, with Levante, Alcoyano, Ponferradina, Murcia and Almeria.

I was looking forward to seeing him with a Premier League side, but the Championship is good fit for the lad as well. Bolton are a decent side, and he should get a fair bit of action under his belt. ESPN reports that he may go right into the Bolton squad for today’s clash with MK Dons, and Arsenal will be keen to see how he gets on I’m sure.

The deal has yet to be announced on Arsenal’s official website, but it is most likely only a matter of time. Good luck to Wellington, and let’s hope he makes the most of this experience.
