According to reports, Arsenal are prepared to take drastic action to bin £80,000-a-week Shkodran Mustafi from wage bill.

The Daily Star claim the north Londoners are even prepared to loan out the German centre-back.

Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Rob Holding, Calum Chambers and David Luiz are all likely ahead of the 27 year-old in the defensive pecking order.

The transfer window may be closed in England, but players can still leave the Premier League.

That is because the transfer window in France, Germany, Italy and Spain remains open.

After another disappointing season last time out, Unai Emery has come to terms with Mustafi being a liability within the side.

The 2014 World Cup winner earns a hefty £80,000-a-week and is no longer a member of the starting XI.

Mustafi has been linked with a move to France, with AS Monaco reportedly interested, but it just remains to be seen if the Gunners are successful in moving him on.
