Arsenal have been back to step up their pursuit for Thomas Lemar this summer.

The Monaco winger has been a longstanding target for Arsene Wenger having failed with an attempt to sign him last summer.

He recently rejected a new contract offer from the Ligue 1 club, which could force the club into cashing in on him.

The France international has been hailed for his skill and dynamism in the final third and could be the final piece in Arsenal’s new look attack.

Lemar has scored 2 and assisted 6 in Ligue 1 this season

Liverpool are also reportedly keen on the 22 year-old’s services and could launch a bid at the end of the season – the Reds are still looking for a frontman to replace Philippe Coutinho who left for Barcelona last month.

And former Reds defender Steve Nicol believes Lemar would be “special” player for any Premier League side.

When asked if he thinks he will come to England, he said: “I think there is no doubt.

“This is a guy who will start for France in the World Cup, and to do that with their squad and you’ve got to have something special.”
