Arsenal are approaching crunch-time in the transfer window as the Gunners enter the final month before their pre-season campaign begins, which will see Arsene Wenger’s side tour Australia and the Far East.

The North London giants are likely to want to conclude their transfer business before they start their preparations for the Premier League’s return in August but they face a battle to do so, as uncertainty surrounds a wealth of their summer targets.

Leicester City ace Riyad Mahrez seemed a shoe-in to join Arsenal this summer after reports circulated that indicated the Algerian ace has informed the Foxes he wants to leave this summer- although his latest comments suggest he could commit a major u-turn.

Quoted by The Leicester Mercury,  Mahrez suggested he could remain at the King Power Stadium for the forthcoming season.

“If I have to stay then I’ll stay.”

Leicester are seeking an audacious price for the African star, reportedly around £50m, and they hold a strong bargaining position due to the fact the 26-year-old currently has three-years remaining on his contract.

Arsenal’s ambition to spend big this summer could see them match Leicester’s demands though, particularly if the Gunners fail to keep hold of Alexis Sanchez.
