Arsenal are reportedly close to completing a deal to bring Lucas Torreira to the Emirates.

The Sampdoria midfielder is, who is currently with the Uruguay squad at the World Cup, has emerged as one of Seria A’s brightest young talents.

Torreira, however is keeping coy on his proposed switch to Arsenal.

“No, I don’t know [if he is an Arsenal player],” Torreira said (via the Express)

“At the moment, the most important thing is playing for my country.

“Arsenal are a good team, one of the most important in the world, but at this moment I am focused on playing for my country.”

Torreira has made 74 appearances for Sampdoria since joining them in 2015 and could become Arsenal’s third signing of the summer.

Defender Stephan Lichsteiner and goalkeeper Bernd Leno have already kicked off the summer transfers and Arsenal fans can expect at least one more to come.

Greek centre-back Sokratis Papastathopoulos is also expected to be announced next month.
