Arsenal have given up on the prospect of signing Denis Suarez on a permanent deal after the midfielder has failed to impress since arriving in January.

Suraez was the subject of January transfer saga between Arsenal and his parent club Barcelona and he eventually arrived at the Emirates on loan.

Unai Emery, who had previously worked with the player at Sevilla, got his man in the end, but according to reports the Spanish boss is set to dump Suarez after six below par Premier League appearances.

Suarez has featured for just 95 minutes across six substitute outings, and other players are currently preferred to the Spain international.

Emery believes the midfield is struggling to adapt to the physicality of the English game and will turn down the option of signing him for £18m in the summer.

Reports say the Gunners’ boss will step up his interest in PSG winger Christopher Nkunku instead.
