Arsenal are prepared to make an improved bid for Shakhtar Donetsk winger Mykhaylo Mudryk later this week.

THE LOWDOWN: CONSTANT INTEREST

Mykhailo Mudryk has been a constant name alongside Arsenal since the summer and it is believed that he is one of Mikel Arteta’s most desired players.

The 21-year-old has been teasing Arsenal fans on social media over a possible move with his actions. He went ahead to post a graphic that predicted his transfer value to be around £40 million at some point before posting an image of him watching Arsenal’s boxing day win over West Ham.

Meanwhile, the Gunners have since tabled an opening bid, which was instantly turned down by the club but it seems the Premier League leaders will go in again for the winger.

THE LATEST: IMPROVED BID

However, the Daily Mail reports that the Gunners will make an improved bid for the Mudryk this week.

The Ukraine international took to social media to reveal that he was watching Arsenal face Brighton on Saturday evening, who are managed by his former coach Roberto Ze Derbi.

Meanwhile, Chelsea have also shown interest as Arsenal’s initial £45m offer is well short of Shakhtar’s desired £85m valuation.

However, Arsenal remain the strong favourites to sign the winger, with Mikel Arteta’s side keen to get more attacking options to aid their title challenge.

On New Year’s Eve, Mudryk posted to Instagram that he was watching ‘2 great coaches’ – Arteta, and his former Shakhtar Donetsk boss Roberto Ze Derbi, who is now managing Arsenal’s opponents Brighton.

The move is being viewed as another hint towards Mudryk’s desired move to North London.

THE VERDICT: AS EXPECTED

Arsenal know what they are doing and should be able to sign the winger before the January window is closed. A second bid could make the Ukrainian side lower their demands and allow the 21-year-old move to the Emirates this month.
