Arsenal are set to be handed a huge blow in the transfer market as the Gunners are on the verge of missing out on a prime target.

The Daily Record states Paris Saint-Germain are on the brink of signing teenage sensation Kylian Mbappe from Monaco, as they seek to assemble one of the finest attacking lines in world football.

French giants PSG have already made waves in the past few weeks by landing Brazilian ace Neymar from Barcelona for a world-record fee but are prepared to part with a further €180m to capture Mbappe, taking their summer spending beyond the €400m mark.

It hands a huge blow to Arsenal, with Wenger keen to bring Mbappe in to be the new focal point of the Gunners’ future, but the North London side were always likely to struggle to match the financial strength of sides like PSG.

A move would certainly raise concerns regarding Financial Fair Play, as it’s not clear exactly where PSG’s money is coming from, but it’s clear the French side have aspirations to overhaul Real Madrid as Europe’s most dominant force.
