We have all the latest Arsenal news today (Friday April 11, 2025) with updates on Nico Williams, Jurrien Timber, William Saliba, Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Timber value SKYROCKETS after Madrid supershow

Things are going well now for Jurrien Timber, really well.

The Dutch international missed most of his first season in north London after a devastating knee injury, but he is more than making up for time in 2025.

His latest supershow was a brilliant performance against Kylian Mbappe and Real Madrid, as he helped the Gunners to a 3-0 win in the first leg of their Champions League quarter-final at the Emirates on Tuesday night.

His development is reflected in his Estimated Transfer Value (ETV) from website FootballTransfers, which has reached a record high this month.

Last summer, the 18-time Netherlands international had an ETV of €26.4 million. This was Timber’s lowest point since his arrival at Arsenal in 2023. The Gunners had paid Ajax an amount of €40m at the time to pry the defender away.

However, since Timber has been playing a lot this season, his ETV has increased massively again. In December, Timber boasted a value of €48.7m, which was a record for the defender at the time.

His ETV only increased even further in the months that followed. Last month, the Dutchman had an ETV of €53.8m. That was a huge increase of €27.4m since the start of this season.

The ETV update for April shows that Timber’s value has increased yet more. The Arsenal defender currently now has an ETV of no less than €62.7m, €22.7m more than Arsenal paid for him and €36.3m more than his ETV from August.

Arsenal target Nico Williams set to decide on future

Nico Williams is ready to take a big decision over his future as interest from the Premier League, and particularly the Gunners, builds ahead of the summer transfer window.

The Athletic Club ace has been made the priority signing for new sporting director Andrea Berta and is available for a bargain fee of just €58 million due to the release clause he has in his current contract.

The Gunners could though yet be scuppered in their attempts to land the Spain star, who is weighing up an alternative contract proposal that would see him tied down to a lucrative “lifetime” contract.

According to Tele Bilbao (via Estadio Deportivo), Williams is “closer than ever” to agreeing to stay with Athletic, where he has been offered a contract that will torpedo Arsenal’s chances of signing him for good.

Not only would this see the 22-year-old commit himself to the club until potentially the end of his career, but it would also offer Athletic protection as he will get a buy-out clause that “no team can afford to pay”.

Berta targets €90 million double coup

New Gunners sporting director Andrea Berta is moving to secure the future of two players worth in excess of €90 million in a deal critical to the future of Mikel Arteta’s squad.

According to BBC Sport, Arsenal are ready to negotiate long-term contracts with young prodigies Ethan Nwaneri and Myles Lewis-Skelly.

Contract extensions for both players are a “priority” for Berta and Arsenal, who are seeking to secure the futures of their academy talent before making external buys.

Both Nwaneri and Lewis-Skelly, who are 18 years old, are on their first professional contracts with the Gunners but the pair are set for bumper pay rises following their impressive first-team breakthroughs.

Lewis-Skelly’s deal expires in June, but there are thought to be no issues preventing him from signing a new five-year extension, while Nwaneri’s contract expires in 2026.

Real Madrid ready to launch €100 million Saliba bid

Real Madrid saw just how good Arsenal’s superstars are at the Emirates on Tuesday night, and now they are ready to launch a huge bid to prise one of them away from north London.

The Spanish giants hope to make William Saliba the most expensive central defender in history, with a €100 million bid reportedly in the offing.

Florentino Perez is said to have been enamoured by the France international centre-back, who was again superb as his expensively-assembled side were dismantled 3-0 by Mikel Arteta’s Gunners.

Madrid are now ready to eclipse the €90m Manchester City paid to sign Josko Gvardiol from RB Leipzig in order to land Saliba, Fichajes reports.

Transfer guru Fabrizio Romano has already explained how Real Madrid view Saliba as the “Jude Bellingham of defenders” and are obsessed with the idea of signing the Saint-Etienne academy product.
