Arsenal still have a huge void in the centre of midfield as Spanish starlet Santi Cazorla, now 32, is unavailable until the New Year due to a long-term injury problem.

The former Malaga man is also in the final 12 months of his current deal and it’s not known whether he will be offered an extension, which means the North London side need to step-up their pursuit of a signing that can replace the fan-favourite.

Italian outlet CalcioMercato believe Arsenal have identified their ideal target though as they state Arsene Wenger’s side are one of many clubs tracking Udinese playmaker Jakub Jankto, along with Serie A giants AC Milan and Juventus.

The 21-year-old Czech Republic international would slot in perfectly to Arsenal’s midfield due to his ability on the ball and play style, although the report suggests the youngster would prefer to remain in Italy- where he’s been located since 2014.

Jankto has already secured a goal and an assist this season, adding onto the tally of five goals and four assists during Udinese’s Serie A campaign last season.
