Arsenal vs Liverpool has been rescheduled, but will not be played on Christmas Eve.

The two were due to go head-to-head on Saturday December 23, but Sky TV had proposed to schedule if for the following day in order to accommodate their Super Sunday routine.

However, after an angry backlash from supporters who were concerned about travelling to and from the Emirates on Christmas Eve and the possibility of being stuck in London for Christmas Day, the game has been rescheduled to Friday December 22.

It’s left Arsenal with the likelihood of playing two weekday matches if they successfully negotiate their way past Norwich City in the Carabao Cup next Tuesday, with the quarter finals set to be played on December 19 or 20.

Sky are still yet to announce whether a different Premier League tie will be played on Christmas Eve.

Both Arsenal and Liverpool are off the pace in the league so far. The team’s sit sixth and seventh and are nine points behind league leaders Manchester City.
