According to reports, Arsenal have entered talks t0 sign Sampdoria Lucas Torreira.
The midfielder has a £22m buy-out clause – which the Gunners want to pay it in instalments.
Torreira, 22, is highly-rated by club and country and is apart of the Italy squad ahead of this summer’s World Cup.
It appears new Gunners boss Unai Emery is keen to sign the Uruguayan as he looks to bolster his midfield.
The defensive midfielder shone for Sampdoria last term as they secured a top 10 finish in Serie A.
As reported by the Mail, Massimo Ferrero, the Sampdoria president said: ‘Lucas Torreira has a release clause. Everyone knows it. Whoever wants to take Torreira will have to work with that release clause; €25m.’
Arsenal have already secured a deal for right-back Stephan Lichsteiner this summer – the Swiss has arrived on a free from Juventus. Meanwhile, it’s been suggested Sokratis Papastathapolous and Marouane Fellaini could join by the end of the week.
