Arsenal youngster set to make senior debut in Europa League tie

Arsenal starlet Emile Smith-Rowe is expected to receive game time when the Gunners start their Europa League campaign on Thursday.

The north Londoners kick off the campaign at home to FC Vorskla Poltava and are of course heavy favourites to leave with the points.

Unai Emery, who won the competition three years in a row at former club Sevilla, is expected to rotate his squad after making minimal changes during the opening weeks of the Premier League season.

Smith Rowe, 18, caught Emery’s eye in pre-season when he scored a wonder goal in the friendly against Atletico Madrid.

And the talented attacking midfielder looks set to make his first senior appearance after being left out of Arsenal’s Under-23 fixture against Blackburn Rovers.

After reaching the semi-final stage last time out, the Gunners are hoping Emery’s fortune in the tournament will see them lift the trophy in May.
