Arsenal could be caught cold after Newcastle are reportedly ready to make a move for a promising midfield target.

The Gunners are claimed to be interested in signing Paraguayan Miguel Almiron.

The 24-year-old Paraguayan has been earning rave reviews for the MLS side and the attacking midfielder has managed 12 goals and 13 assists in 32 games for Atlanta.

Almiron could be vital for Newcastle’s survival. Rafa Benitez’s side are very much struggling for goals this season having scored just nine times in their opening 12 league games.

The big factor will be which club can offer him the regular first team football he needs.

Unai Emery is yet to nail down his forward line and Almiron could be the answer.

His agent said: “We saw Newcastle’s party because we are in England.

“There are two or three clubs interested and we have been working in the UK.”

So far, Almiron has 17 caps for the Paraguay national side.
