There was a number of Arsenal stars out on international duty during the break from Premier League action. Aaron Ramsey was helped Wales move one step closer to securing a place at Euro 2016 and a first major international tournament since 1958. Alexis Sanchez scored the winner in a 3-2 victory over Paraguay whilst Petr Cech helped the Czech Republic secure two victories during the international break.

However, Theo Walcott probably impressed the most in in a 23 minute spell against San Marino. Yes, it was only San Marino but it did highlight why his best position is on the right wing.

Walcott has struggled to secure a starting spot up front for the Gunners and is yet to score this season. The Englishman missed a few chances against Newcastle and perhaps being the lone striker comes with added pressure.

He has predominantly been used as a right winger at Arsenal. His pace, movement and the ability to time his run from deep will always allow him to find goal scoring positions from the right hand side. He seems to be naturally suited to that position and he knows how to finish chances from the right. This is perhaps due to the fact he has played there for so many of his early years.

Theo Walcott will always want to play upfront and be a goalscorer. However, it can’t be denied that he seems to perform at a higher level whilst playing on the right wing. Arsene Wenger will decide what is best for the team and may continue to use Walcott in various positions depending on who we’re up against.
