Owen Hargreaves has named two Arsenal stars who completely transform the club into a different animal.
The Gunners celebrated their first Premier League away clean sheet of the season with victory at Watford on Monday and the feat was sandwhiched by two cleansheets agianst Napoli to see Unai Emery’s side safely through to the semi-finals of the Europa League.
Overall though, the north Londoners have now kept six clean sheets in their last seven matches in all competitions as they close in on a place in a first European final since 2006 and a top four finish in the Premier League.
And Hargreaves believes the defensive partnership between Sokratis Papastathopoulos and Laurent Koscielny is crucial to Arsenal’s hopes of ending the season on a high.
‘Arsenal look different when Koscielny and Sokratis play together,’ said Hargreaves (Metro Sport).
‘I thought the midfield balance was excellent with Torreira and Xhaka, while the front two pose a threat and there was just an excellent balance.
‘You have to give the manager credit, he sets the team up. He addressed the away issue didn’t concede a goal. They are peaking at the right time.’
Arsenal face Crystal Palace at the Emirates on Sunday, before difficult away games at Wolves and Leicester. Emery is urging his team to continue to fight on two fronts.
