Arsene Wenger made a hilarious response after the Frenchman was honoured by the League Managers Association on Thursday.

Wenger was handed the lifetime achievement award by England boss Gareth Southgate for his services to the game.

It was a similar accolade to the one received at the Leaders Sport Awards in October.

Liberia’s President George Weah also awarded his country’s highest honor to his former coach Wenger during a ceremony at a Sports Complex in August.

Wenger, who spent 22 years at Arsenal, battled off calls for him to leave Arsenal for years before finally choosing to resign earlier this year.

The 69 year-old jokingly responded to the spat of awards he’s been given.

‘Since I don’t compete anymore, I get a trophy every week

‘How stupid was I not to understand earlier?’

It’s unclear who the Frenchman will manage next. Wenger was linked with the AC Milan job last month, while Fulham had sought him out before choosing Claudio Ranieri. The Arsenal legend has also stated he’s now ready to return to full-time management.
