Arsenal have been handed a major boost in their pursuit of Europa League glory this season.

The Gunners have been drawn to play Atletico Madrid in the semi-finals of the competition, but were expected to do so without ace midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.

The Armenian sustained medial knee ligament damage in the first leg of the quarter-final win over CSKA Moscow and there were fears he would miss the rest of the season.

However, Arsene Wenger has revealed that the former Manchester United star has now returned to full training. Mkhitaryan could in fact return in just seven days when Atletico arrive at the Emirates for their first-leg clash.

As reported by The Sun, Wenger said: “Mkhitaryan is running again and he has to progress in next three or four days days to see what intensity we can have in training.

“He could possibly return on Thursday at the earliest.”

Winning Europe’s second tier trophy would see the Gunners make a swift return to Champions League football next season.

Gooners, does Henrikh start if fit? Let us know in the comments…
