Arsenal legend Arsene Wenger believes the Gunners face an uphill task to secure a top four finish this season.

A 3-0 defeat at Leicester has left Arsenal four points behind 3rd place Tottenham and two points adrift of Chelsea who sit 4th following their 1-1 draw at Manchester United.

The Gunners suffered their third Premier League defeat in a row which has now left them needing Chelsea to drop points in their last two remaining fixtures.

And Wenger believes his former side now have a mountain to climb with just two Premier League games remaining.

‘It’s bad for us [Arsenal] because we’ve now lost three games,’ Wenger told beIN Sports (as reported by Metro Sport).

‘Let’s hope we can come back before the Man United game but the Chelsea result was not great for us.

‘Tottenham had their fate in their hands, if they won this game [against West Ham] they would be secure.

‘I think especially because they played the Champions League semi-final at home was a huge advantage, to be capable of resting players between the two Champions League games, and now they cannot afford that.

‘It was a surprising defeat.’

Arsenal host Valencia in the first leg of their Europa League semi-final on Thursday, before their final two Premier League games of the season at home to Brighton and away to Burnley on the final day.
