It’s not even a case of ‘as you were’ for Arsenal fans this season.

The club have performed below expectations, both on and off the pitch and the atmosphere at the Emirates is full of pessimism.

Suggestions of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s arrival have helped somewhat to lift the spirits, but Arsenal fans know too well that Arsene Wenger must not continue to neglect the area that desperately needs strengthening – the defence.

The Gunners have conceded 30 goals in just 23 games so far this season. Nine more than our north London rivals Tottenham and 13 more than league leaders Manchester City.

Arsenal have conceded 30 goals so far this season.

After another dismal day on the road, this time at Bournemouth, it appears Wenger is intent on bringing in new recruits to replace the imminently departing Alexis Sanchez and Theo Walcott – as you would expect. However, when it comes to Arsenal, the topic of conversation usually revolves around ‘how many goals are they going to concede today?’

It’s critical the boss sorts out the defence before the window closes.

There have been links to West Brom’s Jonny Evans and even David Luiz. It’s important the club find the right type of defender, but find one we must.
