According to reports, Mikel Arteta is considering Santi Cazorla as his assistant manager at Arsenal.

Despite more experienced managers being linked to succeed Arsene Wenger, Manchester City coach Arteta is the odds on favourite to replace the Frenchman this summer following fresh talks with the club.

Wenger is leaving the north Londoners after 22 years in charge and Arsenal are keen on sealing a new replacement before this summer’s World Cup.

And now The Independent claim his former player Arteta is already drawing up plans for his backroom staff.

The Spaniard played alongside Cazorla four four of his five years at the club – and as an assistant, the playmaker could be offered a player-coaching role.

Cazorla has not appeared for Arsenal since October 2016 after suffering a longterm achilles injury which nearly cost him his leg.

Gooners, is Arteta the right man for the job? Let us know in the comments…
