Atletico Madrid have made contact with Mesut Ozil’s representatives.
The Spanish giants are keen to sign the Germany international next summer with a free transfer in mind.
Ozil’s current deal at the Emirates expires at the end of the season and he has so far refused to put pen to paper on a new deal.
Arsenal are desperate not to lose Ozil, a man they paid £42.5million to Real Madrid in 2013, for free, but suggestions linking him with a January switch to Manchester United have cooled.
TEAMtalk say Atletico have been in touch with Ozil’s representatives and have offered him £200,000 per week, which includes a hefty signing on fee.
Last month’s the playmaker’s agent claimed talks between Arsenal and his client were “positive”, but a new deal appears no closer.
Arsene Wenger is keen for the German to sign a new deal and last month he said he believed the player wanted to stay in north London.
