Arsenal may not be given the chance to sign Thomas Partey this summer after reports claim Atletico Madrid have offered the midfielder a new deal.

The Spanish outfit have laid out a new contract for the Ghanaian in an attempt to ward off interest from clubs this summer amid speculation linking him with Arsenal.

Partey, 26 is certainly on the Gunners’ list of targets, and with a £43.8m release clause, the Spanish side are vulnerable to offers from interested parties.

According to the Guardian, Atletico have offered to double Partey’s salary of £65,000-a-week to make him one of the highest earners at the club on £130,000-a-week.

There had been suggestions striker Alexandre Lacazette could head to Atletico with Partey heading the other way.

The midfielder has become an influential star for Diego Simeone’s La Liga side and was immense in both legs as Atletico secured an unlikely Champions League victory over Liverpool last month.
