Arsenal striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang has thanked his teammates for their contribution in helping him claim the Premier League’s Golden Boot.
Aubameyang netted a brace on the final day to finish the season on 22 league goals. He shares the award with Liverpool duo Mohamed Salah and Sadio Mane.
Overall, Pierre scored 31 goals in his full debut season for the Gunners – and he still has one more chance to add to that tally if he can find the net and help Arsenal win the Europa League on May 29.
On his teammates knowing he was in contention for the Golden Boot, he said: ‘Yeah, they knew it. Me? I said nothing to the guys because I didn’t want them to only focus on me.
‘I’m a team player and if I wasn’t scoring, it wouldn’t have mattered. But I scored and I’m really happy for that. I have to be thankful to the team.
‘Yeah, of course [I’m happy to score 30 goals]. It was a tough season but I had the chance to score goals, because the team played a great season.
‘Of course the last months were not the best in the Premier League, but the whole season, we put in a great effort.’
Gooners, how would you rate Aubameyang’s season? Let us know in the comments…
