Arsenal lack the character to see off Atletico Madrid.
That’s the view of Sky Sports’ Spanish football expert Guillem Balague.
The Gunners have been drawn to the Spanish giants in the semi-finals of the Europa League. With a top four finish out of sight, a triumph in Europe’s second tier competition is Arsenal’s only chance of a return to Champions League football.
Despite dropping out o the Champions League at an early stage, Atletico are enjoying another impressive season under Diego Simeone, with the club set to finish 2nd in La Liga.
And Balague has explained why Arsenal won’t be able to touch the Spanish outfit when they meet for a place in the final.
As reported by 101 Great Goals, he said: ‘When it looks like Arsenal can mount a challenge for the league title, they stumble.
‘It’s possible that they lack character. That would explain their horrendous away form.
‘Defensive problems are their main limitation. They concede almost every game, and Petr Cech has picked the ball out of his own net more in 2017-18 than in any other season.’
