Barcelona president Sandro Rosell has ridiculously stated that Cesc Fabregas’ value has gone down due to wear and tear.

The Catalan club failed to sign Fabregas last summer with Arsenal reportedly holding out for £90 million.

But Barcelona were only willing to offer £40 million last season, and Rosell is adamant that Fabregas’ value has gone down since.

Rosell said: “If last summer we offered 40m euros (£35.1m) for Cesc, since then there has been wear and tear, now he’s worth less.

“I don’t know what will happen, but in the case that we were interested, we won’t go mad and pay over the top.

“I don’t think he will got to another Spanish club.

“Cesc is of Barca, and if I were the president of another club I wouldn’t sign a player who holds dear the colours of another team.

“What is the limit for signing him? We’ll need to see. First we need to know what his salary is and what are his conditions.”
