Arsenal have done the unthinkable and finished top of Champions League Group A after a 4-1 win over Basel in Switzerland on Tuesday night.

The Gunners had Bulgarian side Ludogorets to thank for picking up an unlikely draw against Paris Saint-Germain in the French capital, handing Wenger’s side the chance to top the group.

A first place finish for the north Londoners means that, hopefully, they will be handed an easier draw in the round of 16, where they have been knocked out for the last six seasons.

However, a draw against either Real Madrid or Bayern Munich is still possible as the European giants both finished second in their respective groups.

The draw aside, it was a night to remember for Gunners fans, who watched in awe as struggling summer signing Lucas Perez bagged a hat-trick before Alex Iwobi fired home to give the visitors a 4-0 lead after half time. Star man Alexis Sanchez struck the bar with a freekick before Seydou Doumbia pulled one back for the Swiss side.
