Arsenal have been dealt a blow in their pursuit of Thomas Lemar after reports that Bayern Munich are set to bid for the player in January.

The Gunners made three offers for Lemar this summer, including a £92m deadline-day bid. Despite Monaco accepting the proposal, it was suggested that Lemar turned down a move to The Emirates.

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp was also a reported interest as they sought potential replacements for Phillipe Coutinho, but the Reds were able to hold off Barcelona’s advances.

Now Bayern Munich have emerged as favourites to sign the 21 year-old in the New Year with TEAMtalk reporting that Bayern are considering making a move for him.

Arsene Wenger recently admitted it is “possible” the club could offload both Mesut Ozil and Alexis Sanchez in the winter window. Allowing the duo to leave would leave the club short in the forward areas. Many now see it as imperative the North Londoners beat Bayern to the punch.
