So Arsenal fans, you’re excited about the (potential, but more than likely) arrival of Alexandre Lacazette?

Of course you are, the Frenchman has scored a cool 129 cools in 275 games for Lyon over the past seven seasons, and his last saw him hit the back of the net 37 times – a phenomenal total that puts him up their with the world’s best goalscorers. A player in his prime.

No doubt the Frenchman will be a good addition, however, prepare to be patient.

As well as signing a player who does have the aforementioned brilliant strike rate, you are also acquiring a man who has never once plied his trade outside of France, or indeed Lyon. Having grown up in the city, made his way through the youth ranks to now find himself as the club’s star player, Lacazette’s blood runs white and blue.

Too add to his relative lack of experience, the striker has yet to really make his impact on the France national team either, only being called up for a handful of friendlies and qualifiers. He was left out of the side that came in second place at Euro 2016.

Too often do we in the Premier League expect players to adjust swiftly, and that will of course be true with Lacazette given the astronomical fee he is likely to command. But transitioning from a one club, one city man to England’s top flight and all that comes with it – lifestyle and all – will be a difficult task for the 26-year-old.

It is a task he will no doubt rise to, just in good time.
