Can this Arsenal loan star finally break into the side?

The first photos of Arsenal’s first team stars returning to training have officially been released, and among those captured is young Brazilian winger Wellington Silva. Silva has been on the books at Arsenal as far as back as 2011 (although he agree terms even earlier than that), but had to settle for loans away until his work permit was sorted out.

After five successive loan spells, all of which took place in Spain, he was finally granted a Spanish passport in April of this year, making him eligible to work in the United Kingdom and thus play for Arsenal. This summer will be the first he gets to report to London Colney for training, and a beaming Wellington took to instagram to share his delight.

It has been a long time coming for the player, and I hope for his sake he is given a shot at first team player. I rate this lad and think he can add something to Arsenal. Unfortunately for him though, he will be in the mix of quite a few players in his position with the likes of Campbell and Gnabry competition enough let alone the established first teamers.

Silva is a brilliant talent, as he displayed with his performances in Spain over the past few years. Typical Brazilian flair and trickery, lightning pace, and pinpoint crossing. This loves to beat players at create space and opportunities for others off the dribble. I am curious to see what he can do alongside the like of Ozil and Cazorla, assuming he gets that chance of course.

He can play on either wing as well as up top as main striker if need be, but his diminutive stature works against him in that instance. I personally am eagerly awaiting the preseason matches and the Emirates Cup to see if we can get a glance of Wellington in action. It would be shame if he were to leave the club again without a fair shake at first team action. Have a look at the lad in action and let me know if you think he should get his shot at Arsenal this season.
