Many Arsenal fans are looking expectantly to manager Arsène Wenger to deliver silverware this season. The FA Cup victory against arch-rivals Chelsea last year has whetted the fans’ appetite for more success this campaign. While the scintillating form of Manchester City may make a challenge for the Premier League title difficult, there are other avenues that Wenger could explore for a trophy. Though it will not be easy, you would think that the club could make a serious fist of grabbing one of the below pieces of silverware in 2018.

The two competitions that you would think they have a chance in are the Europa League and the Carabao Cup. If you want to find out more about just how the Gunners could do it, read on.

The road to Europa League success

The 6-0 thrashing of BATE Borisov saw the Gunners top their Europa League group table comfortably. Their campaign in this competition to date has been plain sailing and offered very few surprises in terms of results to fans. This form would naturally lead you to believe that they have a great chance of winning the Europa League under Wenger.

If Arsenal carry on playing the way that they have done to date and can replace Alexis Sanchez, they could go far. The only fly in the ointment that you could potentially spot is the entry of teams into the Europa League who have been knocked out of the Champions League.

Luckily for Arsenal, they will not face any of the four seeded teams who will be coming into the Europa League from the Champions League. As Group winners, they have avoided teams such as Atlético Madrid and RB Leipzig.

AC Milan and Borussia Dortmund, in particular, are the names that jump out from those that could have come Arsenal’s way, but Ostersund shouldn’t represent much of a problem, at least on paper.

Could the Carabao Cup provide the answer?

There is no doubt that this competition could be the easiest way for Arsenal to win a trophy in 2017/18. Currently in the semi-finals, you would no doubt have been impressed with their durable display against Chelsea in the first leg recently. With the second leg to come soon at the Emirates, the 0-0 draw that they got in the first game should give them a great chance to progress to the final. If they do, you would hope that it could be their year in a cup competition again, whoever they face. Of course, getting past Chelsea won’t be easy and neither will a potential final against Manchester City.

One dark spot on the horizon for chances in both competitions is the injury to Jack Wilshere in the first leg of the Carabao Cup semi-final. You would have to say that he has been the standout player for Arsenal in recent months, so they really need him fit and playing to maximize their chances.

Check out the latest odds

By far the best way to check out Arsenal’s chances of winning silverware with Wenger this season is following the odds on football betting sites. You can use this method to not only find out the latest odds for Arsenal in both the above competitions but also the latest team news. If you feel confident of the team going all the way in one or both, then why not win some money by placing a bet on it?

If you are not sure, then finding out the latest odds is a great way to make your mind up as they will effectively tell you how likely a win is to happen. Many football fans love to get fully involved with their team’s progress with sports betting, and you will also have the added bonus of being up to date with their latest results.

Is this Wenger’s swansong?

With his current deal coming to an end soon, this could be Wenger’s farewell present to Arsenal fans. You would certainly say that he stands a good chance of winning one of the cups that they are involved in still, and it would make a nice end to his reign, if he steps down. With Premier League hopes fading fast, it would seem that the Europa League and the Carabao Cup are the only avenues left open for trophies this season.
