Arsene Wenger’s future is still uncertain and the speculation surrounding the manager is affecting some players at the club, Petr Cech has hinted.

The Gunners boss still has over a year to run on his current deal at Arsenal, but after a dismal campaign the rumours and pressure on Wenger to quit ahead of time continue to mount.

Cech, who recently reached 200 Premier League clean sheets says the speculation has not affected his game. However, the veteran ‘keeper has indicated that some of his team-mates could be taking too much notice of it.

Speaking to the BBC, as cited by the Mirror, Cech said: ‘I think it’s individual. As a player some people probably look around more than others.’

Wenger has been pressured to quit the club this summer

‘I have to say I concentrate on what I can do which is only my game, my preparation, my training every day and helping everybody else to be ready for the game when it comes.

‘Obviously all this speculation about the coach in, coach out and what’s going to happen next.

‘Once you as a player start thinking too much about it obviously it can affect your performance and that is not going to help you. So I try to avoid all these things but as I say everybody is different and some people might think too much about it.’

Arsenal could still rescue their season to some degree if they triumph in the Europa League at the first time of asking.

The Gunners have been drawn to Russian outfit CSKA Moscow in the quarter-final.
