Arsenal forward, Alexis Sanchez who missed Chile’s clash with Columbia last week due to a hamstring injury, has been declared fit to play in their qualifier against Uruguay, against the wishes of Gunners boss Arsene Wenger.

The former Barcelona man suffered the hamstring injury in training with his national side ahead of their game last week, which he subsequently sat out, however, his national manager Juan Antonio Pizzi has declared him fit to play.

“Sánchez was not ready for the game in Colombia, but we knew the injury was a small one and we could have him for this match,” he said, speaking at a press conference.

Wenger however has expressed concerns over his star man’s situation with the national team.

“I got a text last night [to say] that he has a hamstring injury,” said Wenger, speaking to beIN Sports.

“I believe that with a hamstring injury we have to get access for our medical staff to the MRI scan to see what grade it is, how bad it is and make absolutely sure they don’t make any suicidal decision that could harm his future for two or three months.

“That is absolutely important. It’s a grey area between the national team and the club team and of course they look at their own results which I can understand but we have to preserve the health of Alexis Sánchez.

“He always wants to play and that’s where it is a more sensitive case because he’s always ready to play even when injured.”

The French manager takes his side to Old Trafford on Saturday to face his old foe Jose Mourinho in a new arena, and will need all his stars fit and available.

Not only is it imperative to have Sanchez available for the trip to Manchester but in order to tackle the November curse which has plagued Arsenal seasons for years now and to maintain a title challenge across the New Year.
