According reports, Antoino Conte’s desperate search for a new striker continues after the Italian approached Olivier Giroud about the possibility of moving to Stamford Bridge.

Despite signing Alvaro Morata this summer, it appears the Chelsea boss is keen to bolster his attack further.

Both Conte and Giroud were present at this week’s FIFA Awards ceremony, where the Gunners striker picked up the Puskas Award for the goal of the year – his memorable ‘scorpion kick’ strike against Crystal Palace last season.

According to an extraordinary claim by Don Balon, Conte proposed the idea of Giroud switching from red to blue.

The France international is said to be happy at Arsenal, however, though it’s likely his joy will run thin should Arsene Wenger continue to utilise him as a bit-part player.

Giroud, who recently reached the century mark of goals scored for Arsenal, will be desperate to be afforded more game time ahead of next summer’s World Cup.
