Arsenal are hopeful of keeping Dani Ceballos passed his loan period ends on June 30.
The midfielder is expected to return to Real Madrid but the Gunners are keen to keep hold of the Spaniard should the Premier League season continue on into July.
Following Mikel Arteta becoming the first high-profile name to contract the virus, the Premier League suspended all top flight fixtures until at least April 30.
But it remains unclear whether the 2019-20 season will be able to conclude before Ceballos’ loan deal expires on June 30.
The 23 year-old had enjoyed a recent run in the team before the season was put on hold and boss Mikel Arteta is said to be happy with his progress.
According to the Evening Standard, while no formal talks have been held between Arsenal and his parent club Real Madrid, the north London side are said to be ‘relaxed’ that his loan could be extended to see out the season should it go into July.
