Unai Emery has refused to rule out the return of on-loan Arsenal youngster Reiss Nelson.
The 18 year-old is flourishing at Hoffenheim this season having and was recently offered the highest of praise from his current manager Julian Nagelsmann. The German outfit’s head coach believes Nelson has the potential to be as good as Messi and Ronaldo if he develop build on his consistency.
Nelson has scored five goals in six Bundesliga matches for Nagelsmann’s side, the most recent a stunning curler from outside the area in Hoffenheim’s win over Bayer Leverkusen, and now has as many to his name this season as Robert Lewandowski.
Arsenal have struggled for goals this season, particularly in the first-half and while a Henrikh Mkhitaryan is struggling to find his best form, Nelson could be the answer.
What’s for sure is that Emery is keen to bring his starlet back to the Emirates.
“He can take responsibility, minutes and confidence in a team where he can play more,” Emery said of Nelson.
“Then the objective with him is to come back with us and grow with this experience. My experience in Spain and France is that with this loan the player can take this.
“With Reiss, we are very happy with him at the moment. We follow him every match. We are thinking how he can help us in the future.”
And on whether it’s possible Nelson’s loan could be cut short, Emery said: “At the moment we don’t speak about that.”
