Dani Ceballos has been discussing his role in the Arsenal team.

The Spaniard has been an instant hit with the fans after arriving on-loan from Real Madrid.

It’s uncertain whether the Gunners will splash out on the playmaker next summer, but the 23 year-old has adjusted well to life in the Premier League.

He said: ‘Unai wants me to show my personality on the pitch and I feel the responsibility this season of taking the reins, of wanting the ball in difficult moments of games, of not hiding.

‘Really good players take that step forward when it matters.’

‘There are coaches that like it and coaches that don’t,’ Ceballos said about his personality (Metro).

Dani Ceballos has impressed so far

‘I know I need to be able to identify the moments in a game when it’s right to be the player who does something different and the moments when I have to be the player who holds his position.

‘I try to get at the opposition and make the difference.

‘It is true though that sometimes the desire to be near the ball gets the better of me and I can lose my position. But I am young and I can improve.’

Emery will look to utliise his squad on October 3 for the visit of Standard Liege and Tierney and Bellerin may get minutes in that game if they are fit.

This past summer Real boss Zidane made little attempt to persuade him Ceballos stay. One of the midfielder’s former coaches calls his treatment an anomaly. After the early form he’s shown for Arsenal, it must be hard not to agree.
