Arsenal have confirmed that goalkeeper Matt Macey has joined Plymouth Argyle on loan for the season.

The 23-year-old stopper made two first-team appearances last season – against Red Star Belgrade in the UEFA Europa League and Norwich City in the Carabao Cup.

He made his Arsenal debut in October 2017 in the League Cup and also played in the Europa League either side of loan spells at Accrington and Luton.

Plymouth will open their League One campaign away to Walsall on Saturday.

Arsenal still have four first-team ‘keepers, with Petr Cech, David Ospina, Bernd Leno and Emiliano Martinez who all could be vying for the No1 jersey this season.

However, rumours that Ospina will quit the club this summer continue to mount. The Sun have strong reports that the Colombian will leave for Besiktas in the coming days.

Gooners, who do you want to see take the No1 jersey this season? Let us know in the comments…
