Calum Chambers today joined Fulham on loan for the duration of the 2018-19 season.
The 23 year-old, who spent enjoyed a successful season with Middlesborough in 2016/17, will now continue his development at Craven Cottage.
Many will see the move come as a surprise, particularly after the Englishman put pen to paper on a new long-term contract little over a month ago.
However, the opportunity is also a welcome one for a man who desperately needs regular minutes in the Premier League.
Chambers, who arrived at the Emirates in 2014, has registered 48 league appearances for Arsenal. Inconsistent form saw the former-Southampton man struggle to become a regular for Arsene Wenger’s team.
Now he attempts to impress new boss Unai Emery at a distance.
Speaking to the official Fulham site, the centre-half said, “I’m really excited. I watched a lot of Fulham last season, I really like the way they play football, there’s a good manager, it’s a great club, so I’m really excited for the season ahead.
“Everyone can see that Fulham’s a club that likes to play football, play football from the back, through the lines.
“That’s the style of football I like as well, so I think it fits me and suits the way I play.”
