Arsenal are in Frankfurt to open their 2019/20 Europa League account.

Head coach Unai Emery has decided to rest Mesut Ozil and centre-back Sokratis for Thursday’s group stage opener against the Bundesliga club.

But Rob Holding has travelled with the first-team squad for the first-time since suffering a serious knee injury back in December.

Arsenal go into the match on the back of a disappointing 2-2 draw with Watford at Vicarage Road in the Premier League, but they will be favourites for the game in Germany.

With Eddie Nkteiah firing at Leeds an Lacazette now out for a month, it is very likely Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang will start up top for the north Londoners.

As for the home side, Frankfurt punched above their expectations last season by going all the way to the semi-finals, only to lose to eventual Europa League winners Chelsea.

The west-German side sold attacking trio Luka Jovic, Sebastien Haller and Ante Rebic in the summer. The three accounted for 56 of the 90 goals scored by the club last season, but they will be keen to show they can still compete despite a summer of change.
