Arsenal legend Ray Parlour has been trying his hand in the casino as he took on The Only Way is Essex star, Amy Childs, in a game of blackjack but with a twist as they took on 888casino’s Electric Blackjack challenge.

Armed with top tips from both 888casino’s Ultimate Blackjack Strategy Guide and blackjack master, John Scanlon, of Aspers Casino, the Romford Pele, who racked up 400 appearances for the Gunners, took to the table hoping to avoid any shocking moments.

In order to ramp up the challenge, filmed before Childs’ October announcement that she was expecting her first child, the pair received an electric shock for any incorrect blackjack move, judged by the master himself.

Could the former Gunner replicate his form on the pitch in north London at the table?

Not quite, it turns out. Luck was most definitely on the side of the TOWIE star as Parlour took quite the hammering from the master’s shocks, but he admitted that they had taught him a lot about the game.

Both players admitted that the challenge had given them a better understanding of the game, which is often thought to be based purely on luck.

Parlour received plenty of shocks from the master whilst at the table.

“I know from my playing days that it can be tempting to make quick and rash decisions whilst under pressure,” said the ex-England midfielder.

“But now I have a better understanding of the blackjack plays and know when to go for another hit. That electric shock hurt more than a Martin Keown tackle though.”
