Raheem Sterling has set the record straight about his potential move to Arsenal.

The Manchester City forward was being linked with a late move to North London this summer as part of an exchange deal with Alexis Sanchez. Yet, no deal ever materialised.

Recent reports suggest Arsenal would reaffirm their interest in the January window, but Sterling claims he has no intentions of leaving City any time soon.

As reported by the Daily Star, said: “I signed for five years here. I’ve got two-and-a-half years left, and I see myself here and playing my football here under a great manager with a great team.

“I didn’t need to speak with Pep [Guardiola] because I had already spoken to him during the summer about pre-season. I didn’t have any negative thoughts or anything bad about it.

“I just woke up one day with England and saw [the Arsenal gossip], and I decided I wouldn’t believe a word of it until I heard something from the manager, then I would believe it.

“I didn’t need to worry about it, and I didn’t think about it, not for one minute.”

Both Sterling and his team have made excellent starts to the new season. The England international has scored nine and assisted twice so far this season as City lead the way in the Premier League.

It appears Arsene Wenger will now have to look elsewhere to find a suitable replacement for the departing Alexis Sanchez.
