Arsenal were thumped 4-1 by Chelsea in the Europa League final.

Second half strikes from Olivier Giroud, Pedro and a brace from Eden Hazard saw Maurizio Sarri’s men claim the Blues’ second Europa League triumph.

Arsenal started the game strongly, Granit Xhaka’s thunderbolt from distance skimmed the bar, while Alexandre Lacazette and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang were both lively in the first half.

However, Unai Emery’s side collapsed after the break. Former Olivier Giroud scored with a neat low header to hand Chelsea the lead, before Pedro swept home to make it two after clever work by Eden Hazard

Hazard then scored twice, either side of an Alex Iwobi thunderbolt, to take the game away from Arsenal

Arsenal are now resigned to another season of Europa League football.

After a end of season collapse in the Premier League and a disappointing Europa League defeat, questions are now being asked over the direction of the club.
