Arsenal have reiterated throughout the transfer window that Alexis Sanchez will not be leaving the Emirates Stadium but another side seem intent on testing the Gunners resolve.

The Sun claims French champions Monaco are eyeing a remarkable £45m swoop for the Chilean sensation, who’s out of contract next year, and will test whether Arsenal are really prepared to risk losing the two-time Copa America on a free transfer next summer.

Arsene Wenger stated once again this weekend that Alexis is not going anywhere this summer, although didn’t say whether he expects the South American ace to extend his current deal, and the offer from Monaco may be tempting.

It may also be a plot from the French champions to warn Arsenal off the services of 21-year-old French international Thomas Lemar, who Wenger has been actively pursuing this summer as he looks to improve his side significantly.

Lemar’s signature won’t be cheap but neither will Alexis’ and it’s certainly unlikely to be the last we hear from this story.
