Arsenal were expected to have done more in the summer transfer window and it’s been revealed that a number of potential moves fell through for various reasons.

Monaco duo Thomas Lemar and Kylian Mbappe were both heavily linked with a move to North London but the former rejected a move on Deadline Day, whilst teenage sensation Mbappe elected to join boyhood club Paris Saint-Germain.

Arsenal did manage to land a French international in Alexandre Lacazette, who arrived from Lyon in a club-record deal, and it’s now been revealed that a deal for another Frenchman fell through.

Sport Witness quotes free-agent Cedric Carrasso as revealing issues with agents held-up a summer switch to Arsenal, where he would have been third-choice goalkeeper behind Petr Cech and David Ospina.

“This offer (from Sporting Lisbon) I accepted. Everything was OK but it messed up. There was a bug with the agents there. Same for Arsenal. Arsene (Wenger) wanted to work with three good goalies. I had to go as a third. At the beginning, I said to myself: ‘Third to do nothing, if not to be in the group, it is not very interesting.’”

“After, I said to myself: ‘It’s Arsenal all the same!’ And there was still this problem of agents.”

The 35-year-old stopper is now on the verge of signing for Galatasaray but could have been a solid addition for Arsenal, who loaned Emiliano Martinez to Getafe for the season.
