The Gunners have shown their depth on both sides of the back line this year with the emergence of Hector Bellerin and reliable play and maturity from Nacho Monreal.

With Gibbs struggling to find time in Wenger’s Starting XI, Gooners have begun to speculate about his place in North London and many suggest that it might be time for Kieran Gibbs to move on. However, the left-back is just 25 years of age and with a lot of years left in him, it would be harsh to cut short his Arsenal career just yet.

But as they say, there’s no room for sentimentality in football, and especially not if you intend on challenging for the Premier League, as must be the aim next year. While Monreal has improved this term, there is still the feeling that this may only be temporary and that he’s still not at the level required to challenge for the highest honours.
