Five Premier League players Arsenal should sign in the summer

Although the transfer window does not open until the summer, Arsene Wenger will know that there is a huge array of talent available right in front of him in the Premier League. Stars both homegrown and from other countries could prove to be huge signings for the club this year, making Arsenal confident title-challengers once more.

Many of the signings being discussed in recent times have been both made up and completely unrealistic, and so the signings who are actually needed have not been spoken of. Rivals in and around the Premier League have players who are wasting away and looking for consistent, first-team football which gives Arsenal a chance to sign some solid and experienced stars.

The summer window will also give the club a chance to have a longer and more developed look at some rising stars on the football scene, so here are five players Arsenal could sign from their Premier League rivals.

Javier Hernandez

The “Little Pea”, as he is known as by many, is currently on loan at Real Madrid where life is proving difficult for him again. His Real Madrid adventure started well in the beginning, but he now finds himself sitting in the same position as he constantly did at Manchester United – on the bench. An exciting, clinical and lively striker, he would be a fine addition to any strike force in the country.

Gary Cahill

With Kurt Zouma shining in his role next to John Terry in the heart of the Chelsea defence, Cahill has been the player who has made way. A solid and surprisingly agile centre-back with bundles of experience, he would benefit from consistent first-team football at the Emirates.

Moussa Sissoko

The Newcastle powerhouse would bring a new dimension of play to Arsenal’s defensive midfield. His powerful runs and bursts of pace make him a nightmare to defend against, and his presence is seen and felt whenever Newcastle play. With the managerial situation Newcastle are currently in as well, this may be the summer to make a swoop for the player before another club seizes the chance and places an offer.

Morgan Schneiderlin

There are many different reasons why Southampton are having such an inspired season so far, with one of them being down to the resolve of this player in midfield. The Southampton ace is worth a reported £20million which is a steal for a player who would be a fantastic addition to an already creative midfield, as well as providing more cover for the defence as he continually does for the Saints.

Romelu Lukaku

Romelu Lukaku recently came out and said he wants to play for a top club one day, emphasising his desire to leave Everton. Although his £28m price from Chelsea seems like a wasted sum, he does not get the same service at Everton as he did when he was at Chelsea. Arsenal would help him improve and get back to his best, making him the deadly youngster he once was at Chelsea.
