Community Service

Arsenal’s work in the community is top class, and goes to show the principles of the club’s hierarchy. Charity work is crucial to the club, and every year the Arsenal foundation picks a good cause or charity to support, as well as several other scattered good deeds throughout the year. The lads do a splendid job in the community, whether it be working with children, homeless, or those severely ill. The video above is one of countless occasions of Arsenal players getting involved in the community, and is splendid to support a club who makes such efforts.

Trust in youth

On the field, Arsenal’s trust in youth is brilliant to watch. Arsenal not only give the youngsters a shot, they are successful in producing and recruiting talented youngsters. It is one thing to give youngsters chances just for chances sake, it is another to produce top class youth talent who are capable of performing for the first team. Wilshere is the breathing example of a strong youth academy product, as is Gibbs, Bellerin, Szczesny, Gnabry, Zelalem, and to some extent Walcott, Ramsey, and Chamberlain. There aren’t too many other clubs who give youngsters chances as frequently as Arsenal, and it speaks volumes to the class of the organization.

We make stars as well as buy them

The slogan used to be; “we make stars, not buy them” but the club’s spending over the past few summers has sort of dispelled that now. Not that it’s a bad thing by any means, but the it’s only right we amend it to; “we make stars as well as buy stars.” Arsenal and particularly Arsene Wenger still has a fantastic reputation for molding players and maturing raw talent into world beaters. He did it with the entire Invincibles class, he did it with Fabregas, Van Persie, Song, Adebayor and those lot from from the mid 2000s, and he is doing it as we speak with the current squad. Giroud and Koscielny were average when they arrived, while Ramsey, Chamberlain, and Walcott were promising but raw youth talents. All are world stars now who could get into most XIs in world football. The list goes on but we would be here all day.

Longest serving boss

The fact that the club has stood by the boss shows just how classy Arsenal really is. This ruthless and sometimes senseless cycle of firing and hiring has taken over the modern game and so many clubs are too quick to jump ship when things aren’t going well. It is refreshing to see a club stick by a manager despite hard times, and Arsenal is the only club in the Premier League who has done that over the past few (nearly) decades. Sir Alex of course enjoyed a long stay at United, but once he retired they hastily fired Moyes after an indifferent season. City as we know have gone through a few managers in the past five or six seasons, as did Chelsea before Mourinho’s return. This list again goes on and on.

 Fan appreciation

Arsenal of course isn’t the only club to do laps of appreciation, but the emphasis on fan appreciation is noticeably high at this club. Mertesacker’s berating of Ozil for failing to acknowledge the travelling fans says it all really, as this club makes a real valiant effort to thank fans. It is imperative to the club that the fans feel appreciated, and as a fans we couldn’t really ask for more. Top class stuff.
